CityFacts publishes effective property tax rates for every Ontario municipality, built directly from the Financial Information Returns municipalities file with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. It exists because the rates are public but scattered across hundreds of municipal websites and PDFs, and the few comparison tables that exist cover only the largest cities.

The site is independent. It is not affiliated with the Province of Ontario, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation or any municipality. Pages are regenerated automatically when new returns are published; nothing is edited by hand, so errors in a municipality's return will show up here too. If you spot one, the authoritative figure is always the municipality's own tax rate by-law.
